Exceptional coffee doesn't happen by accident.

Here's what goes into every bag of Elo, and why it matters.

How we source

Seed to cup. Transparency at every step.

Great coffee doesn't start at the roaster. It starts at the farm: with the soil, the altitude, the rainfall, and the hands that tend to every plant. At Elo, we believe what happens before the roast matters just as much as what happens after it. That's why we partner with Café Imports, a specialty coffee importer whose deep relationships with producers around the world give us access to some of the finest coffee-growing regions on earth.

Every coffee we source is fair trade and organic. Fair trade means the farmers who grow our beans are paid fairly for their work, not squeezed by middlemen or market fluctuations. Organic means the beans are grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, which is better for the land, better for the farmers, and better for what ends up in your cup.

When sourcing is this intentional, the difference shows up in the cup. Cleaner flavor, better balance, and a taste that reflects the care that went into every step of getting it to you.

What specialty-grade means

Specialty-grade isn't a marketing term. It's a measurement.

Specialty-grade coffee is scored on a 100-point scale by the Specialty Coffee Association - the global authority on coffee quality. Most of the coffee you'll find at mainstream coffee shops and grocery store shelves scores in the 60-70 point range. It's drinkable. It's familiar. But it's not exceptional.

To earn a specialty designation, a coffee must score 80 points or higher, evaluated across criteria like aroma, flavor, aftertaste, acidity, body, and balance. It's a rigorous standard that the majority of coffee on the market never reaches. These are the only beans that make it into a bag of Elo.

We're confident you'll taste the difference.

Why we do Third-Party Testing

You deserve to know what's in your cup, and what's not.

Transparency means nothing without evidence. That's why we made third-party testing a non-negotiable part of how Elo operates. Every batch of Elo coffee is tested through Eurofins, a global leader in food and product testing operating under ISO 17025 accredited laboratories, the gold standard for testing accuracy and reliability. We screen for five things that most coffee drinkers never think to ask about:

Mold

A common byproduct of improper drying or storage that quietly affects both the flavor of your coffee and your overall health.

Mycotoxins

Toxic compounds produced by mold that can accumulate in poorly stored or processed beans, and have been linked to a range of long-term health concerns.

Heavy Metals

Lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury can be absorbed by coffee plants through contaminated soil and make their way into your cup if left undetected.

Pesticide Residues

Chemical compounds that can remain on beans even after roasting if not properly screened for, a risk that most brands never bother to test.

Acidity Level

Excess acidity in coffee can aggravate digestive issues and contribute to acid reflux, something sensitive drinkers feel with every cup.

Don't just take our word for it

“I can’t get over how smooth this coffee is! I’ve tried every single one of Elo’s roasts at this point and in a variety of brewing methods, and each one of them is so delicious in their own way. I’m so grateful for the level of transparency of what’s in the coffee (or more importantly, what’s NOT!), and the beautiful mission that drives this company. Highly recommend!”

"Elo coffee is an experience! The rich, low-acidity flavor profile they have developed is exceptional. But, what truly sets Elo apart is their heart. It’s rare to find a brand where you know your purchase genuinely matters, and supporting their mission to fund ministries makes every bag feel like a meaningful investment in the Kingdom."

- Danielle C.

When I first tasted Elo coffee, I was impressed with how smooth the taste is, without sacrificing the deep rich flavor. For coffee lovers, after opening the bag of beans, the aroma is something you can’t get enough of."
